Frank Scholes was in born in Leeds on 5 June 1886. By trade a carpenter, he enlisted into the Royal Navy on 9 February 1915. His first posting was Carpenter’s Crew on the shore base Victory II but served on the fleet tender Sappho between March 1915 and September 1916. On 16 April 1917 he transferred to the R.N.A.S. and on 1 April 1918 to the R.A.F. He was based at Dundee from 1 April 1918, at Peterhead from 9 September 1918 and Ripon from 13 January 1919. Scholes was discharged on 30 April 1920. Sold with copied service records.
