Frank Yates was born in Harrow, Middlesex and enlisted at Hereford. Servinf with the 5th Battalion King’s Shropshire Light Infantry, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 22 May 1915 and was killed in action on 25 September 1915, aged 21 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
