1914 Star, with clasp (Lieut. Commdr., R.N.V.R. Hood Bttn. R.N.D.); British War and Victory Medals (Commr., R.N.V.R.); R.N. Volunteer Reserve Decoration, G.V.R., the reverse hallmarked London 1922, good very fine (4) £300-350

Lieutenant-Commander William Maples served at Antwerp with “B” Company, Hood Battalion, until 5 November 1914, when he was transferred to Sheerness Examination Service, having been discharged ‘unfit for land service.’
