1914 Star, with slide clasp (906 Pte., S. Ir. H.) sometime gilded; British War Medal 1914-20 (Lieut., 1-3 G.R.) the unit details unofficially engraved; Victory Medal 1914-19 (Lieut., 2nd R.M.F.) the unit details unofficially engraved; India General Service 1908-35, 2 clasps, Mashud 1919-20, Waziristan 1919-21 (Capt., 1-3 G.R.) good very fine (4) £250-300

Major Kingsley Thomas Roe disembarked in France with the South Irish Horse on 17 August 1914, with which unit he served until 14 August 1915, when he received a commission into the 2nd Battalion, Royal Munster Fusiliers. Subsequently in 1919, he transferred to the Indian Army and was posted to the 1/3rd Gurkha Rifles being promoted Captain in 1920 and Major in 1930. Only one Squadron of the South Irish Horse were entitled to the 1914 Star.
