India General Service 1854-95, 2 clasps, Burma 1885-7, Burma 1887-9 (3942 Sergt. W. Everett, 1st Bn. Rif. Brig.); Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 6 clasps, Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing’s Nek, South Africa 1901 (3942 Q.M.S. W. Hoggatt, Rifle Bde.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (3942 Q. M. Sgt. W. E. Hoggatt, Rif. Bde.) very fine or better (3) £300-350

William Everett was born at Landrur, Bengal and enlisted at Manchester on 11 October 1879. Intriguingly the medal roll for the I.G.S. 1854 notes Sergeant Everett as being deceased, however his service papers confirm that he is still very much alive, and state ‘alias William Everett Hoggatt’, with the same regimental number. He was discharged at Gosport on 24 December 1901, at which time his military conduct was described as ‘exemplary.’
