unnamed, with riveted buckle suspension and riband bar; Sutlej 1845-46, for Sobraon 1846, no clasp (Lieut., 9th Lancers); Punjab 1848-49, 2 clasps, Chilianwala, Goojerat (Capt., 9th Lancers), edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise generally very fine (3) £700-900

John Cameron Campbell of Lochnell, who was originally appointed a Cornet in the 13th Light Dragoons in October 1827, transferred to the 9th Lancers and was advanced to Lieutenant in June 1841. He was subsequently present at Punniar in December 1843, gained advancement to Captain in April 1846, in which latter year he was present at Sobraon in the First Sikh War, and served throughout the operations in the Punjab 1848-49, including the battles of Chilianwala and Goojerat, when he commanded the left squadron of his regiment. He resigned in the rank of Captain shortly afterwards.
