John Octavius Goodridge served as Assistant Surgeon aboard the Starling during the First China War and as Surgeon aboard the Herald, qualifying for the Arctic Discoveries Medal during 1848-50. He died at Blandford on 26 November 1865, aged 57 years.

Sold with a folder containing a quantity of research, including extracts from the ‘Narrative of the Voyage of H.M.S.
Herald during the years 1845-51’ in which Goodridge is several times mentioned.
