Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (3621 Pte. T. Groves, 106th Foot) minor edge bruising, very fine £70-90

Thomas Groves was born in the Parish of Smethwick, Staffordshire in March 1835. His military career began in January 1853 when he enlisted into the 60th Regiment. He was transferred to the 42nd in March 1853, transferred to the 93rd in March 1857, transferred to the 28th in 1863 and transferred to the 106th in 1864. His overseas service resulted in the award of a Crimea Medal with clasps for Balaklava and Sebastopol and the Indian Mutiny Medal with clasps for Relief of Lucknow and Lucknow. He was discharged on 26 August 1874, aged 39 years, 2 months. Sold with copied research details.
