Lieutenant R. J. Milne, Devon Regiment, served in the relief of Ladysmith, including the actions at Colenso, Spion Kop, Tugela Heights and Pieters Hill. Also served in operations in Transvaal and the Cape Colony - for which he was awarded the Queen’s medal with 4 clasps and King’s medal with 2 clasp. He served as a Major during the Great War, was awarded the 1914 Star and was mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 15 June 1916).
