Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein (2581 Pte. G. Jellows, 1 Essex Regt.) extremely fine £110-130

George Jellows was born at Dunmow, Essex and enlisted in the 1st Battalion, Essex Regiment in May 1889, aged 20 years. At one time a Lance-Corporal, he served out in India and was discharged to the Army Reserve in February 1897, but was recalled to the Colours on the outbreak of hostilities in South Africa. He served in the latter theatre of war from November 1899 until July 1900, when he returned home and was finally discharged in April 1902.
