Arthur Edmond Easterbrook was born at Paignton, Devon on 27 November 1893. A Gardener by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Navy as a Probationary Sick Berth Attendant on 8 January 1912 and was promoted to Sick Berth Attendant later the same year. During the early part of the Great War he served aboard the dreadnaught battleship Marlborough and was present at the battle of Jutland, during which the ship was hit by a torpedo and two men killed. Promoted 2nd Sick Berth Steward in 1917, he attained the rank of Sick Berth Petty Officer in 1924 and was awarded the Long Service medal in 1927 whilst serving aboard the monitor H.M.S. Erebus. Sold with copied service papers.
