Charles Copp was born in Barnstaple and living in Ilfracombe enlisted at Barnstaple. Serving with the 1/6th Battalion and attached to the 2nd Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment, he died of wounds in Mesopotamia on 12 December 1915, aged 28 years. He was interred in the Amara war cemetery, Iraq.
