Punjab 1848-49, 2 clasps, Chilianwala, Goojerat (Thos. Josh, 9th Lancers) official later impressed issue, extremely fine £100-120

Thomas Josh enlisted in the 9th Lancers in May 1843 and arrived in India just after the close of the Gwalior Campaign. He also appears to have missed active service in the First Sikh War, being sick in hospital at Meerut for the period late 1845 to early 1846, but he did participate in the Punjab operations 1848-49 and was present at the battles of Chilianwala and Goojerat. Sadly his final award - the Indian Mutiny Medal for Delhi - proved to be a posthumous one, Josh dying due to the ‘effects of the climate’ on 12 November 1857. He is commemorated on the regimental memorial in Exeter Cathedral.
