Ramzan Khan entered the service in 1859. He served at Quetta and and Khelat in 1878-79, and was promoted Jemadar on 22 January 1880, before proceeding to Kandahar with his corps in May of that year. He took part in the skirmish on 14 July, which resulted in the capture of the Wali’s guns from the mutineers, and was afterwards at the battle of Maiwand, where he was slightly wounded. He subsequently took part in the retreat to and in the defence of Kandahar. He was promoted Subadar on 4 February 1881 and was still serving with Jacob’s Rifles in April 1885.
