London College of Chemistry & Pharmacy, an oval silver award medal, unsigned, microscopes and chemical apparatus, rev. legend, named (Awarded to William Collins Faull, for Proficiency in Botany, July 1909), 56 x 40mm. Extremely fine and attractively toned £60-£80

William Collins Faull, FRCS (1888-1936), b St Ives, Cornwall, received his medical education at St Mary's Hospital and, after seeing service in the Great War as a 2nd Lieutenant, acted as house surgeon at Northampton General Hospital before emigrating to South Africa. He registered there in January 1925 and practised at 1 Edmund's road, Durban, in partnership with Dr E.W. Dyer. He was a surgeon at Addington Hospital, Durban, from 1932 to 1936. He married Elizabeth Butchart Watt, MA, of Arbroath, Angus, who survived him. He died suddenly of coronary thrombosis on 13 May 1936 at 7 Elms road, Clapham, three days after his return to England
