John Davies was born in Llanerchymedd, Anglesey, in 1896 and attested there for the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 19 February 1916. He served with the 15th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 21 July 1917, and transferred to the 16th Battalion on 6 February 1918. He suffered a gun shot wound to the head on 24 April 1918, and died of his wounds at 22 General Hospital on 7 May 1918. He is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery.
