Leonard Hardisty attested for the Royal Lancaster Regiment and served with the 1st/4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 3 May 1915. Posted on attachment to the Nigeria Regiment, he served with the 2nd Battalion during the Egba Expedition, June to July 1918. He was discharged on 15 June 1919.
