Hubert Allum was born at Wheatley, Oxford, and attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry at Oxford. He served with the 2nd/4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action during the attack on Hill 35 on 10 September 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
