The destroyer H.M.S. Gallant was launched in 1935. The ship was damaged when she hit a mine off Pantellaria on 10 January 1941. She was towed to Malta and was later bombed by German aircraft in Valetta and and had to be beached. Gallant held the battle honours 'Atlantic 1939', 'Dunkirk 1940', 'Spartivento 1940', 'Mediterranean 1940-41' and 'Malta Convoys 1941'.
