Henry Brett was born in 1787 in Holborn. He established his business in 1929 and can be seen advertising in various newspapers by 1832. In 1851 he is described in the Census as a Brandy Merchant and Hotel Keeper at 138-140 Holborn Hill. The business was highly successful and advertisements for Henry Brett & Co. can be found from as late as 1883.
