The Royal Victorian Order, M.V.O., Member’s 4th Class breast badge, silver-gilt and enamel, the reverse officially numbered ‘2792’; General Service 1918-62, 2 clasps, Cyprus, Near East (Fg. Off. D. J. Rowe. R.A.F.); General Service 1962-2007, 1 clasp, South Arabia (Flt. Lt. D. J. Rowe R.A.F.); Jubilee 1977, unnamed as issued; Malaysia, Federation, Meritorious Service Medal 1960, silver; Pingat Peringatan Malaysia Medal 1963, bronze; mounted as originally worn by Spink, London; together with recipient’s Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air emblem, lacquered, generally very fine or better (6) £1,200-£1,600

David John Rowe joined the Royal Air Force, and passed out as Cadet Pilot to Acting Pilot Officer (on probation) in April 1952. Confirmed as Pilot Officer in June the following year, and advanced to Flying Officer in July 1954. Rowe advanced to Flight Lieutenant in September 1958, was designated Specialist Aircrew in September 1970, and advanced to Squadron Leader in January 1974. He died in Oxfordshire in December 2015.
