Memorial Plaque (2) (William George Peters; Ernest Joliffe) first in card envelope, second with small hole drilled at 12 o’clock and fitted with ring suspension, otherwise good very fine (2) £80-£100

Wilfred George Peters, a native of Chew Magna, Somerset, attested for the Somerset Light Infantry and served with the 6th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front. He was killed in action during the Battle of the Somme on 16 September 1916; he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.

Ernest Jolliffe, a native of Warminster, Wiltshire, attested for the Somerset Light Infantry and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front. Attached to the 2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment, he was killed in action on Easter Sunday, 8 April 1917, presumably in the gas attacks and shelling that preceded the Battle of Arras that started officially the following day. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
