Charles Henry Davies served with the 1/5th Gurkhas in the Hazara Expedition of 1888 (Medal with Clasp); Waziristan 1894-95 (Clasp). He was appointed a Special Assistant to the Political Agent in Gilgit on 14 August 1895, and was promoted to Captain on 5 February 1898. He also received the medal for Punjab Frontier 1897-98 and Tirah 1897-98.
