Walter Loach attested for the 18th Hussars and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 26 August 1914: the 18th Hussars formed part of the 2nd and later 1st Cavalry Brigade of the British Expeditionary Force. He is also noted as having served in 10th Hussars, and transferred to Class ‘Z’ Army Reserve on 14 February 1919.
