Harry Jones attested for the Gloucestershire Regiment and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 18 July 1915. He subsequently transferred to the Machine Gun Corps and was re-numbered 162764, before being discharged Class ‘Z’ Army Reserve on 7 March 1919.

Robert Bowman was born at Whitburn, Sunderland, and attested for the Border Regiment at Newcastle-upon-Tyne on 31 August 1914. He served with the 9th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 3 September 1915; later transferring to the 65th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps, he was re-numbered 74544, and saw further service in Salonika. He was discharged Class ‘Z’ Army Reserve on 11 May 1919.
