L. C. Humphrey attested for the Royal Army Ordnance Corps and served as an Armourer Lance Sergeant attached to the 7th Light Tank Company on the North West Frontier. He is listed in the October 1943 and October 1944 Army Lists, as Humphrey, L.C., War Substantive Sergeant Major, R.E.M.E. Armourer Section, and was commissioned Lieutenant in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers on 14 January 1945.
