1914-15 Star (1731 L.Cpl. W. D. Duke. Oxf: & Bucks: L.I.); British War and Victory Medals (1731 W.O. Cl. 2 W. D. Duke. Oxf. & Bucks. L.I.); Defence Medal; Territorial Force Efficiency Medal, G.V.R. (200168 C. Sjt. W. D. Duke. 4 - Oxf. & Bucks. L.I.); Special Constabulary Long Service Medal, G.V.R., 2nd issue, 1 clasp, Long Service 1942 (William D. Duke) the three bronze awards lightly gilded, edge bruising and contact marks throughout, generally nearly very fine (6) £160-£200

William Druce Duke attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and served with the 1st/4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 March 1915. Appointed Company Quartermaster Sergeant, he subsequently served in No. 4 Officer Cadet Battalion at New College, Oxford, but was struck off the strength in January 1919, on dispersal. In the 1939 Register he is recorded as a Special Constable, residing at Walton Crescent, Oxford. He died in Oxford in 1957.
