W. Miller was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery on 24 November 1914, and served with the 11th Brigade during the Great War on the Western Front from 26 September 1915. Advanced Lieutenant, for his services during the Great War he was Mentioned in Despatches.
