Arthur Lowry was born in Louth, Lincolnshire, on 29 January 1906 and joined the Royal Navy on 12 April 1927. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 15 May 1942 whilst serving in H.M.S. St. George, a shore establishment in Eastney.
