Livery Companies, Salters’ Company, an engraved silver-gilt badge, arms and supporters, rev. wreath, named (Frederick Le Gros Clark, Master, 1866), edge impressed (The Worshipful Company of Salters), 38mm. Extremely fine; with clip and ring for suspension, contained in fitted maroon case (£80-100)

Frederick Le Gros Clark (1811-92), appointed assistant surgeon, St Thomas’s Hospital, 1843, then surgeon, 1853-73, wrote a number of medical reference texts. Clark was Master of the Company twice and his family had long ties with it
