Charles I (1625-1649), Pontefract, Shilling, 1648, type I, dvm spiro spero around cypher, rev. castle gateway, obs to left, pc above, hand and sword from window to right, date below, 5.48g/12h (Hird 271 and 275, same dies; N 2646; S 3148). Cut down from a (heavy?) lozenge-shaped flan and made round, otherwise nearly very fine, very rare (£1,000-1,200)
