Harold John White Burnet, a native of Christchurch, New Zealand, attested for the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and served with the 9th Battery, New Zealand Field Artillery during the Great War on the Western Front from January 1918. He was killed in action at Bapaume, France, on 21 August 1918, during the Battle of Amiens, and is buried in Couin New British Cemetery, France.
