George Cunningham was born in the Parish of Hetherset, Norfolk, and attested for the Norfolk Regiment at Wymondham on 24 December 1889, aged 18 years 2 months. He served in India from 30 September 1891 to 20 January 1898, and was attached to the Telegraph Department in the Waziristan campaign of 1894-95. He served in South Africa from 4 January 1900 to 25 July 1902, and was discharged on 26 July 1902. Sold with copied discharge papers which confirm medals and clasps.
