George Henry Kewin was born in Liverpool on 29 March 1940 and, having emigrated to Australia, attested for the Australian Regular Army at Perth, Western Australia, on 2 February 1960. He served with the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, and was advanced Sergeant. He was discharged on 1 February 1969.

Sold with extensive copied service papers which state that the recipient was injured on 30 April 1964, whilst serving with HQ 1 Division, when he crushed two fingers on his left hand as he ‘was loading beer kegs at Resch’s Brewery, Waverley, and caught his fingers between two nine gallon kegs.’
