William Barrett was born in Andover, Hampshire, and attested for the Hampshire Regiment a Winchester. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War in Gallipoli from 25 April 1915, and was killed in action on 28 April 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.
