Frank Ellis was born in Brighton, Sussex, and attested there for the Royal Sussex Regiment. He served with the 9th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 27 March 1918. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, France.
