Thomas Harold Gardiner was born in Tonbridge, Kent, and attested there for the Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment. He served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 7 December 1914, and was killed in action on 18 April 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
Sold together with an empty Princess Mary 1914 Christmas tin.
