David II (1329-1371), Second coinage, Groat, class D, Edinburgh, mm. cross pattée, bust similar to that of Robert II, no pellet behind, tressure of six arcs, rev. pellet in first and second quarters, 4.16g/5h (SCBI 35, –; cf. B 297-8; S 5100/5101). Striking crack at 8 o’clock and hairline scratches on obverse, otherwise very fine with attractive dark tone, rare (£150-200)
