Stephen (1135-1154), Midland variants, Penny, type IV, Norwich, Jordan (?), n [reversed] di·[—] norpie, mint reading outwards, crowned bust facing, rev. star in centre of lozenge with lis on points and annulets in angles, 1.03g/10h (Harris, SCMB 1986, pp.99-100, 168, –; N 897; S 1301). Hairline striking crack between 2 and 3 o’clock, obverse legend flat and portrait weak, therefore fair only, reverse legend part flat, otherwise nearly very fine, the mint signature clear, excessively rare and unrecorded for this mint, the issue previously known only for Lincoln and Nottingham (£1,000-1,200)
