D.F.M. London Gazette 10 April 1945. Recommendation states ‘As a rear gunner Flight Sergeant Dwyer has participated in many operational sorties including the recent attacks on Le Creusot, Genoa and Milan. On the 21st June 1941 he was injured during a raid on Kiel and was unable to participate in operational flying for approximately 10 months. Since resuming, he has performed his duties with great efficiency and has set an excellent example to his comrades.’

Flight Sergeant (Rear Gunner) John Henry Patrick Dwyer received four penetrating shrapnel wounds and a compound fracture of his right femur whilst participating in a raid on Kiel 21 June 1941. He was presumed killed in action when his Lancaster failed to return from a bombing raid over Hamburg on the night of 9/10 November 1942. Sold with copies from 57 Squadron Operations Record Book; photocopies of several letters sent to Dwyer’s widow by the Air Ministry and a laser copy of a group photograph including Dwyer.
