Distinguished Service Medal, G.VI.R. (D/JX.158950 W. L. Aydon, O.Smn. H.M.S. Carlisle) impressed naming; 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; War Medal, the first with some pitting, therefore nearly very fine (4) £350-450

D.S.M. London Gazette 8 January 1942 ‘For outstanding gallantry, fortitude and resolution during the Battle of Crete.’ The following recommendation for the immediate award of the D.S.M. was taken from Admiralty Files: ‘Exceptional devotion to duty in continuing to fight single-handed both 0.5 inch machine-guns after all the remaining personnel of both crews had been wounded.’
