M.M. London Gazette 11 November 1916. Recommendation submitted on 14 June 1916: ‘For consistent good work and devotion to duty especially in the trenches. Has shown excellent control of men under difficult circumstances, during the whole period of field service of the Battalion 28-2-15 to present date.’

M.C. London Gazette 17 December 1917, citation 28 April 1918: ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as the only officer left with the company. He drove the enemy out of successive concrete strongholds finally establishing a position commanding the whole of the battalion front. He then led a patrol forward, forced the garrison of a strong point to surrender, brought in wounded and un-wounded prisoners, and destroyed an enemy trench mortar and two machine guns.’

Second Lieutenant Harry Jeynes, 1st battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment, was killed in action at Bapaume on 22nd March 1918, the second day of the German Spring Offensive. He is commemorated by name on the Pozieres Memorial, France.
