Lionel Schofield Fenton was born in April 1881 and first commissioned into the Suffolk Regiment in January 1901. He transferred to the Indian Army in April 1903 and served during the Great War, in Iraq October 1915 to July 1916, Southern Kurdistan 1919, and Iraq 1919-20. He was D.A.A.G. from February to July 1916.
