Contemporary maroon half-morocco and marbled boards by Holden of Liverpool, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt; spine a trifle rubbed but internally fine, signed Argyll 1940 on first free endpaper and pencil notes by Argyll at the back; a useful group of catalogues (£60-80)

The cataloguer of the Herpin sale explains the brevity of the entries therein by stating that he had only a fortnight in which to compile, print and publish the catalogue and that this “utterly precluded the possibility of doing more than has been done”
