British, Irish and World Banknotes

Bank of England, Frank May, £5, London, 4 September 1893, serial number E/60 36665, bank stamp from Tunbridge Wells at low centre, slight stain on reverse right, otherwise an astonishingly fresh and crisp example, paper still clean and white, good very fine. The date of this note probably makes it the latest in private hands, having been issued only a few months before Frank May retired. In such wonderful condition, this recently discovered note is also undoubtedly one of the finest examples extant
