Two pairs of Danish silver and enamel ear clips by Eigil Jensen for Anton Michelsen, circa 1960, the first pair of black and grey enamel, the second similarly decorated in cream and white enamel, gilt to the reverse, stamped ‘DENMARK’ and with maker’s mark, and designer’s mark, length 38mm. £90-£120

Anton Michelsen (1809-1877) founded the A. Michelsen Company in Copenhagen in 1841 and was soon receiving commissions from the Royal Family. By 1848, he was officially made ‘Court Goldsmith and Maker of Orders’ . After his father’s death, Anton’s son Carl took over the business, making it the leading gold and silversmith company in Denmark. By 1972 the company was brought by the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory and merged with the firm Georg Jensen Silversmiths Ltd.

Eigil Jensen (1917-2002) trained with the Hans Hansen silversmithy and designed for Georg Jensen. He worked for Anton Michelsen as a silversmith and production manager from 1943 to 1983.
