A pair of carnelian scarab earstuds, the carved carnelian stones set to ropetwist collets with beaded fan decoration, stamped ‘9C’, length 15mm.

Converted from 19th century jewels - later adapted to earrings with applied (solder) support bar and posts. Filigree and ropetwist wirework all original. Scarabs with intaglio/carvings to reverse, one depicting a bird, the other indistinct. General wear to mounts commensurate with age, the carving on one of the stones is slightly more pronounced than the other. The collets each with a small hole to top to from previous fitting and evidence to base of earlier fitting still present. One post slightly bent, gross weight 8.2gms.
