‘For gallantry and distinguished service in the Field.’

Walter John Brady was born in Holborn, London, in 1890 and attested for the Royal Field Artillery in London on 6 January 1908. He served with the 28th Brigade, R.F.A., during the Great War on the Western Front from 18 August 1914, was awarded the Russian Medal of St. George, and was wounded by gun shot to the left foot on 26 July 1916. Repatriated home, he was discharged on account of his wounds on 23 October 1918, and was awarded a Silver War Badge.
