Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 1st issue (J.102086 W. P. Thomas. A/P.O. Tel. H.M.S. Barham) ship partially officially corrected, nearly extremely fine £70-£90

William Patrick Thomas was born in Queenstown, Ireland, on 21 March 1905 and served in the Royal Navy as a Chief Petty Officer Telegraphist throughout the Second World War, being awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for his gallantry during the Withdrawal from Crete (London Gazette 8 January 1942). He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 21 February 1938. He was shore pensioned on 8 November 1945, but re-entered the Royal Navy on 10 February 1949, and was awarded a Second Award Bar to his L.S. & G.C. on 27 September 1956. He was finally shore pensioned on 8 July 1966; in addition to his Second War service he also received the Naval General Service medal with claps Palestine 1936-39.
