Edward Walworth Bell was commissioned temporary Second Lieutenant in the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry on 1 February 1915, and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 24 July 1915. He subsequently served with the West African Regiment, and at the time of the Armistice was on duty in Freetown, Sierra Leona. He relinquished his commission in January 1920, and was granted the honorary rank of Captain.
Sold together with the recipient’s original Commission Document, appointing the recipient a temporary Second Lieutenant in the Land Forces on 1 February 1915; and War Office letter.

Neil Barclay was born in Dalmuir, Dumbartonshire, in 1890. Commissioned Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers, he served with the Inland Water Transport during the Great War in Mesopotamia from 10 February 1917.
